Artist Statement

I primarily work with mixed media on canvas and produce a variety of different sized works of art. I use found materials as well as purchased supplies in my creative enterprise. It is my mission to convey, and engage in discussion of, a broad range of issues and topics via the visual arts. In aesthetic terms, I am especially interested in forging innovative relationships – both harmonious and conflictual – between linear trajectories and organic forms. The use of found materials within each piece of my artwork fosters this preoccupation. The vicissitudes of form and color in my work serve to variously mirror the disparities and coincidences between urban and natural milieus. I also deploy the elements and principles of design in my creative enterprise; emphasizing texture. In service to the viewer, I strive to shroud my work with a certain degree of ambiguity. The viewer is thus afforded broad scope through which to interface with, and interpret, the work at hand. This allows the viewer to achieve a sense of his or her own place within that work.
